This past summer marked two major milestones for Sobey Road Entertainment: the acquisition of Ghost Elephants by National Geographic Documentary Films, and Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery by ABC News Studios. Both projects reflect our commitment to supporting filmmakers who bring visionary, enduring stories to global audiences.
Ghost Elephants Acquired by National Geographic Documentary Films
In August, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that National Geographic Documentary Films acquired worldwide streaming rights to Ghost Elephants, the latest film from legendary director Werner Herzog.
The feature-length documentary premiered at the Venice Film Festival and follows conservation biologist Steve Boyes on an expedition to uncover the truth behind Angola’s mythical “ghost elephants.” Sobey Road Entertainment financed the film, with Ariel León Isacovitch producing and Brian Nugent and Andrew Trapani serving as executive producers.
The film will stream globally on Disney+ and Hulu in 2026, bringing Herzog’s singular voice and vision to audiences around the world.

Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery Acquired by ABC News Studios
Earlier this summer, ABC News Studios acquired U.S. rights to Ally Pankiw’s Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery, with Hulu and Disney+ streaming the film in the U.S. beginning September 21.
The documentary revisits and reframes the iconic all-female music festival spearheaded by Sarah McLachlan in the 1990s, featuring rare archival footage and interviews with artists including Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlile, Erykah Badu, Bonnie Raitt, Jewel, Olivia Rodrigo, and more.
Sobey Road is proud to help bring this powerful cultural story to the screen in collaboration with White Horse Pictures and Epic Magazine.
