The Lido Theater, Newport Beach, CA
A red carpet evening celebrating cinema, technology, imagination, and the future of storytelling.
Sway Minds 2026
Join us at The Lido Theater in Newport Beach on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, for a red carpet evening featuring Academy Award-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis in conversation, and a private, invitation-only screening of his forthcoming documentary on Crosby, Stills & Nash.
This September, Sobey Road Entertainment invites our partners and friends to join us for a private opening-night experience at the historic Lido Theater in Newport Beach.
Our Cinema Night, presented in collaboration with Sway Capital as part of the broader Sway Minds 2026 experience, will bring together everything Sobey Road was built around: visionary filmmakers, powerful stories, creative conviction, and the rare opportunity to see how ideas move from page to screen.
Guests will walk the red carpet, enjoy champagne and hors d'oeuvres, join Andy Trapani and Brian Nugent for a Sobey Road Founders’ State of the Union, hear from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis in discussion with Brian Nugent, and attend a private screening of Zemeckis’s forthcoming documentary on Crosby, Stills & Nash.
The career-spanning film explores the music, history, creative chemistry, and enduring connection behind one of the most iconic groups in American music.
This is an evening designed to bring our friends inside the creative process, connect you to our work in film production, and celebrate the future of storytelling in the place it belongs: in a theater, with the lights down and the screen glowing.
Opening-Night Keynote
Robert Zemeckis
Academy Award-Winning Director, Producer, and Screenwriter
Few filmmakers have shaped modern cinema quite like Robert Zemeckis.
Across five decades, his films have combined unforgettable storytelling with groundbreaking technology, from Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and Forrest Gump to Cast Away, The Polar Express, Contact, Flight, and Here.
Zemeckis has made audiences believe in time travel, living cartoons, impossible journeys, and entire lives unfolding through moments of wonder and emotion. Again and again, he has used technology not as a distraction from story, but as a way to make story feel more alive.
At a moment when AI, visual effects, streaming platforms, and changing audience behavior are reshaping entertainment, his perspective has never been more relevant.
During this opening-night conversation, we will revisit moments from his extraordinary career and hear how he thinks about cinema, technology, imagination, and the future of human creativity.
